  • You are suggesting to fill the closing form and approach the branch but my experience is different.
I have a POS and maintain a current account with Axis Bank Pondicherry. Today I approached the branch for closing account and returning the POS terminal.
The Executive response was that I have to apply first to deactivate the POS terminal. That according to him would take about 10 days. They would hold Rs.17000 towards lien amount for terminal. Only after EDC was collected by the concerned team would they release the 17000. And… only after that should I apply to close account. POS deactivation charges about Rs. 730.
Is this not strange to take this long to close the account and pay charges for closing for an account maintained almost 7 years?
    Please guide.

    • Hi Rajendra,
Yes, you are right it is a long period of time what Axis Bank is taking to close your bank account. But in your case, you want to return the POS machine which you have taken from the bank.

Every bank has it’s own procedure to do the things. And at the next phase, every branch has its own time period required to do the things or process the things.

However, I suggest you talk to the customer care of the bank and verify if it really takes so long to process your request.

Even my opinion is the time that the Axis Bank told you is too long.

      Cheers!
