The banks in India allow the account holders to change the name in the account. But the request will be taken and processed only if there is a proper proof document with the account holder. So you will have to provide the proof document of your name change.

  3. The letter should address the branch manager of your IOB home branch.
  4. The subject of the letter should be “Change of Name in the Bank Account”.
  5. In the body section of the letter explain that you have changed your name and want to update the same in the account.
  6. Further, you have to mention your old name, new name, bank account number, and the document you are submitting as proof.
  7. Get a clear photocopy of the document and make your signature on it.
  8. Attach your photocopy with your application letter.
  9. Visit your Indian Overseas Bank home branch and submit the application letter to the bank officials.
